This Halloween, our dedicated nurse aide students brought smiles, laughter, and plenty of spooky spirit to the residents at the nursing home!
It was a wonderful day of learning and giving back, as the students practiced their caregiving skills while brightening the lives of others. Thank you to our future healthcare heroes for bringing warmth, compassion, and a little Halloween magic to everyone at the nursing home! 🧡🎃

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend, Jester II.

Jester was more than just a dog; he was an integral and cherished member of the West Bladen High School family. As our dedicated facility dog, he brightened the days of countless students, teachers, and staff members.

Owned by Sarah Smith from the EC department, Jester brought a unique sense of comfort and joy to our campus every day. His gentle presence had a way of easing stress, bringing smiles to faces, and making the school environment a little bit warmer for everyone he met. Whether offering a comforting paw to a student having a tough day or simply greeting staff with a wagging tail, his impact was immeasurable.

We are so grateful for the time we had with him and the positive "paw print" he has left on all of our hearts. He will be deeply missed by the entire West Bladen community.

Mrs. Jones’ Class Explores the Scientific Method!

Mrs. Jones’ class is diving into a unique science unit focused on the scientific method. Today, students became real scientists as they formed hypotheses and tested them in a fun, hands-on experiment!

Using candy corn and three different liquids—vinegar, water, and alcohol—students investigated which liquid would dissolve the candy corn the fastest. The results were surprising, and the students loved every minute of it!

Caring Connections Across Bladen County

Today, students from Mrs. Todd’s and Mrs. Hinson’s Nurse Aide I classes shared a little fall joy with the residents at the local nursing home by delivering handmade cards for the Fall Festival.

A heartfelt thank you to the Health Science classes at East Bladen and West Bladen High Schools, and to Mrs. Jones’s class, for creating these beautiful cards. The residents were all smiles and shared how much they loved and appreciated each one.

This partnership shows the power of compassion and community—our students learning the importance of care, kindness, and connection.

Our Health Science II class has been learning about infection control. Today, students demonstrated their skills by checking off on donning and doffing PPE.

Proper donning (putting on) and doffing (removing) of Personal Protective Equipment are critical procedures that protect healthcare workers, patients, and others from exposure to infectious agents and hazardous materials. Following correct procedures helps ensure maximum protection and prevents cross-contamination.
